Collegiate Race Licenses

A rider must be in good standing with Collegiate Cycling and pay the appropriate license fees and purchase the necessary collegiate race license. A rider must present a valid Collegiate Cycling license at each race’s registration or purchase a one-day license upon race registration.

To participate in any WCCC race, a Rider must be considered a full-time student in good standing, as defined by the bursar or registrar at that school.

 

 

 

 

Attending a Race Weekend

To participate in any WCCC race, a Rider must be considered a full-time student in good standing, as defined by the bursar or registrar at that school.

WHAT TO BRING

Collegiate specific race license (or most current copy) that shows your Name, School Team Name, Race Category, and Race Number.

WCCC Race Number (if supplied) or cash to replace or purchase new number

Each Rider must fill out a USAC Race Event Form for each race day and any necessary forms provided by the school.

TEAM TIME TRIALS

Teams and riders from other conferences may compete in any WCCC race except Championships at the discretion of the race director and conference director. Such riders will be placed but not scored.

TEAM RELAYS

Each team shall consist of at least one woman and one man.

TEAM PAY

Schools with good standing may use team pay during a race weekend. Schools that have not paid their debt may not be allowed to continue using team pay until their debt has been paid and may be fined a penalty depending on the amount owed.

Current full-time students in good standing with their school may participate in the WCCC Conference Championships.

Attending National Championships

ELIGIBILITY

Each rider must submit proof of eligibility in the form of a properly completed “Collegiate Cycling Championship Eligibility Verification Form” at registration, available from the USA Cycling website, proving that s/he is enrolled as a full-time student, as defined by his/her School, and is in good standing financially, academically and disciplinarily.

QUALIFYING

Based on Team and/or Individual performance and results throughout the WCCC specific season as a Category A Rider

ROAD NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

For all road events, riders shall meet the following eligibility standards, in addition to those standards already put forth: (i) Must be a collegiate category A for the road discipline for the criterium and road race. (ii) For mass-start events, riders must have competed as a category A in at least 3 mass start road events in the current conference season.*

NATIONALS TEAM TIME TRIAL

To compete in a time trial, riders must have raced at least two A races in the season in any road race discipline in the current conference season.* *If the conference season is shortened or cannot otherwise reasonably accommodate such requirements for riders, the conference director may lower these requirements with the approval of USA Cycling.

TRACK NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

For all track events, riders shall meet the following eligibility standards, in addition to those standards already put forth: (i) Riders must produce documented evidence of completion of at least two track events that season to compete in mass-start event (a track event in this case is defined as one day of racing). Road Race Criterium Team & Individual Time Trial Women 80-115 km 45-60 min 20-35 km Men 100-160 km 60-90 min 20-35 km 169 (ii) Riders participating in events not classified as mass start must produce documented evidence of completion of at least one track event that season (a track event in this case is defined as one day of racing). (iii) For mass-start races riders must be a collegiate track category A. (iv) Additionally if a rider’s conference holds a track season, the conference director may require participation in that season for riders to qualify for the national championships.

MOUNTAIN BIKE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

For all mountain bike events, riders shall meet the following eligibility standards, in addition to those standards already put forth: (i) Must be a collegiate category A for all mountain disciplines the rider is participating in. (ii) For endurance events, riders must have competed as a category A in at least 3 endurance mass start events during the current conference season. Team Relay events shall not count as a mass-start event for qualification purposes.* (iii) For gravity events, riders must have competed as a category A in at least 3 gravity events during the current conference season. To compete in 171 downhill, at least 2 of those events need to be downhill.* *If the conference season is shortened or cannot otherwise reasonably accommodate such requirements for riders, the conference director may lower these requirements with the approval of USA Cycling.

CYCLO-CROSS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

To compete at Collegiate Cyclo-cross National Championships, a rider must be at least USAC cyclo-cross category 3 or collegiate cyclo-cross category A. Additionally, if a rider’s conference holds a cyclo-cross season, the conference director may require participation in that season for riders to qualify for the national championships. (ii) Riders must compete with the collegiate team that they were attached to for the majority of the preceding academic term.

 

 

Race Results

COLLEGIATE RESULTS

The Conference Director, or an appointed proxy such as the Season Coordinator, will post results and current rankings by the end of every race weekend at the event. Collegiate results for a weekend will be posted online via USAC and the WCCC site within 1 week of receiving the Post Event Paperwork.

NON-COLLEGIATE RESULTS

The Conference Director will only score and post Collegiate Categories, all other race results are the responsibility of the Race Director.

RACE DISPUTES

Race result disputes should be made to the Chief Official directly at the event or to the Conference Director/Season Coordinator within one week of the event via e-mail. Another errors on the results after the marked date may not be viewed unless due to a technical error.

SCORING

The final individual standings shall be determined by all of a rider’s races held in the current season, plus Conference Championship races. A rider who has competed in different categories shall be ranked only in the category where he/she ends the season.

Team Time Trial and Team Relay points do not count for Individual Omnium.

Points are worth double (x2) during Conference Championships for Individual and Team Omnium.

OUT OF CONFERENCE RIDERS

Teams and riders from other conferences may compete in any WCCC race except Championships at the discretion of the race director and conference director. Such riders will be placed but not scored.

How to Upgrade

Riders must race in the category listed on their USAC Collegiate Race License. If a rider upgrades they must represent this upgrade with the WCCC category upgrade sticker on their license or print a new Authorization to Ride or use the USA Cycling app for Androidand iPhone.

Riders must submit an upgrade request online through USAC. All request submitted by Tuesday at midnight will be handled prior to the next Race. There are no day-of or weekend upgrades.

Riders must attend a minimum of two (2) race weekends and/or four (4) mass starts before upgrading OR one (1) race weekend and/or two (2) mass starts AND a WCCC Skills Clinic. Exceptions will be made if the rider places in the top three (3) for two races in a row.

HOW TO DOWNGRADE

Riders must file a petition to the Conference Director to downgrade. A rider may not downgrade during the middle of a race weekend or event.
